Five Must-Have Apps for a Campervanning Trip in Scotland

IT won’t be long before you could set off on your very own staycation in Scotland and here at The Wee Camper Co, you can take full advantage of our campervan hire.

Whether it is your first time, or you already have experience with this type of holiday, we will always be more than happy to help you along the way.

However, there are several helpful apps you can use in order to make the most of your time away.

And we have taken the time to compile a short list of five must-have ones for your very own campervanning trip in Scotland.

1. PARK4NIGHT

This app puts you in touch with a great community of users who can recommend places to park up and rest for the night almost anywhere in Scotland and across Europe.

There are even spots listed and images provided of places where it could be good to enjoy a picnic, or even take part in some local activities.

It can prove to be useful when planning out your itinerary for your trip but also provides you with plenty of options to head away from your planned route.

And if you find any places that aren’t already highlighted on the app, you can upload your own pics and info about the site to share with others.

2. NORTH COAST 500

We already have our very own blog post that features the North Coast 500 as part of ideas for trips in the Scottish Highlands, and the route’s dedicated app can come in very handy.

It is free to use and provides you with a whole range of activities to take part in, as well as places to visit and see along the way.

You can use the app’s detailed maps to see what is near you on the route at any time, and you can even filter them to highlight the things most important to you.

While you can also download it to use offline, which could come in handy in some of the North Coast 500’s more remote areas!

3. SEARCHFORSITES

Like the park4night app, this one can come in very handy when planning out places to rest for the night along the way on your trip.

Searchforsites lists locations all over Scotland and Europe which are categorised into different types including touring campsites and areas for wild camping among others.

Each site’s page will have more information about the location, such as pricing for parking, customer images and helpful user reviews.

And like the North Coast 500 app, you can also download this app’s maps for use offline to save you from worrying about finding access to the internet!

4. SITESEEKER

This one comes from The Camping and Caravanning Club and provides you with a whole list of campsites right across Scotland and the UK.

It has its very own map which will highlight the location of each site for you, and each location will have plenty of information about the facilities, pricing, booking options and more.

And if you sign up as a club member, the app will also allow you to view certified sites that normal users won’t be able to find out about!

Like the other apps on this list, Siteseeker has also been made to allow you to use it offline to make it even more convenient for you.

P.s The Wee Camper Co are now proud fleet members of The Camping and Caravanning Club and we are excited to offer our customers exclusive access to the club whilst you are on hire with one of our campervans. Find out more soon!

5. MUNRO MAP

This one will definitely come in handy for the thrill seekers and hill walkers among you who fancy bagging some Munros and Corbetts on your campervanning trip in Scotland.

It features a map with all the Munros and Corbetts across the country and will even allow you to filter either category for ease.

You can also check out the exact height of every peak featured on the app, and even mark off the ones you have already climbed if you’re aiming to bag them all!

Climbing Munros and Corbetts has become one of the most popular activities to do in Scotland during the summer months, and so we definitely recommend giving it a try!
